A Simple Strawberry and Banana Smoothie Recipe or Two
With a vast supply of strawberries and a short time to eat them, I decided to whip together a simple banana and strawberry smoothie.
You don’t have to be exact with this.
Smoothie Ingredients:
1 banana
a handful of strawberries
a spoonful of honey to taste
milk or yoghurt or non-diary alternatives
water (optional
ice (optional)
Instructions:
Take the stalks off of the strawberries if you have them. You can slice them if you want to but you don’t need to. Pop them into the blender bottle.
Remove the skin from the banana break the banana into pieces and pop the pieces into the blender bottle.
See how far up the blender your fruit goes. About half way is probably plenty.
Add your yoghurt or milk to cover the mixture. (Note if using yoghurt you may want to add some water if your mix is too thick to turn).
Add your ice cubes if you want to use them.
If you are using frozen fruit you may find you end up with quite a thick mix a bit like a slushie. You can remove the dairy element and have it more of a slushie as a cool summer alternative.
Just experiment. I find that 1 banana and a handful of strawberries is plenty, however, you may prefer more strawberries.
For healthier options omit any form of sugar, bananas are high in sugar anyway and if you use garden fresh strawberries they will (hopefully) be much sweeter than the shop bought ones that have had to be packed early and often don’t have as much taste.
Here is another strawberry and banana recipe I found on YouTube for you to try. It is ideal for vegetarians and vegans.
