This easy-to-make orange curd recipe is fruity and sweet and perfect for the morning rush.
It needs very few ingredients and is quite fast to make. Once you have made this recipe you will be able to branch out and try other curd recipes.
One of my favourite things to do is to make this curd slightly runny and use it on vanilla ice cream with some chocolate sauce. It is so yummy, but then I do like sweet!
How to Make a Tasty Orange Curd
Light & Fruity Orange Curd
This is easy to make and also quick to make orange curd. It needs only a few ingredients and little time.
Ingredients
- 200 ml Orange juice approx 4 oranges
- 120 g Unsalted Butter
- 8 Egg Yolks
- 280 g Caster Sugar
- Makes approx 2480ml Curd
Equipment List
- Sieve
- Wooden spoon
- Grater
- Jam jars and lid 2 x240ml sterilized
- Bain-marie or double pan
Instructions

Wash the oranges to clean and remove the wax

Cut your oranges in half and extract the juice

Use the grater to grate the zest of the oranges making sure you only take the orange part and not the white part

Separate the egg whites and the yolk. Remove as much of the white as possible and keep for another project

Weigh your butter and cut into smaller pieces

Put all of your ingredients into your pan together

Place your pan onto the hob and heat gently until all the butter has melted

Increase your heat to medium

Keep stirring until your mixture is thick and keeps a line on the centre of the spoon when you put something through it

Pop your curd into the jar and seal it

Allow it to cool down.
Recipe Notes
This recipe is quick and easy to do. Make sure you heat it enough though to make sure it thickens up. It is quite sweet so you may want to adjust the sugar to suit your own tastes.
