Everyone has their own preferences for how they cook their roasts some put everything into the bowl while others like to separate the meat from the vegetables. In this video example by Third Street Kitchen, the potatoes are put in the bottom of the oven while the meat is covered and placed on a rack. She uses similar temperatures to me as she cooks at 350F or 176°C. With this method, the potatoes take about 50 minutes to -1 hour and the meat about 45 minutes.

  2. Use potatoes with more starch in them for better results.
  3. Cut your potatoes thinner or longer for faster cooking times and to make sure they are cooked in the centre.
  4. Use an extender ring if you have one.

How to Cook Frozen Roast Potatoes in a Halogen Oven

Cooking frozen roast potatoes in your halogen oven couldn’t be easier.  The Halogen oven is perfect for cooking things from frozen and potatoes are no exception. You can get near perfect roasts this way. It is quick and easy for those on the go.

The main thing to remember is that your halogen cooks very quickly. I usually find that it pays to use the fan oven temperatures when cooking in the halogen or drop 20°C for a stable cooking time.  Note though that sometimes even this cooks faster. Each oven might be different. By reducing the temperature you might not be taking advantage of the oven’s speed but you stand a better chance of an even cook.

  1. You can choose to preheat your oven for a few minutes if you want to.
  2. Pop your potatoes into your oven on your wire grid or tray with holes.
  3. Close the lid and set the temperature to the fan oven temperature on the packet or about 180°C (356F).
  4. Set your time to 5 minutes less than stated on the packet.
  5. Check your potatoes are done right though and hot.
